Welcome to Hamptonevents.com the evolution of my long running mailing list which was called "Hampton Events". The majority of the people on this list, I met personally from 1999 to the present at either, Dockers Waterside, Botanica & Company, The Pavilion, The Inn at Quogue, 75 Main, or The Patio. Others have been brought to this list via the Paul Mahos Band. At the present time there are over 2500 people participating in keeping their finger on the pulse of exciting events happening in the Hamptons. Hamptonevents.com is more than just a mailing list at this point, we also participate in the promotion and launching of exciting events, at restaurants, night spots, retail venues and more - bringing to you a fun, hip, spending crowd, who are not wallflowers, but people with vibrant personalities, clothing, and the power of getting the word out. With the assistance of Nicholas Landry & the ever stunning Nicole La Montagne we hope to include you in many exciting events to come. So many people have personally given me such incredibly positive feedback about how much you have enjoyed attending so many of these hot happenings, I trust that you will be even more excited now that there is a site to see it all happening week to week as we go through Season 2007 together! Cheers!

The Patio in Westhampton Beach on Main Street, is at last undergoing a major renovation. When was the last time this went on? I do not know, and its been way too long! They are under a massive revamp and re-launch, with wood floors being put in throughout the bar room, new décor in all 3 dining rooms and through the bar room, The Bar at The Patio is a beautiful and historic part of Westhampton Beach's Main Street . There are also tables in the bar area, and plenty of stools to grab, there is also a small sofa grouping with a coffee table to sit and have drinks as well. This has been a watering hole since 4th of July Weekend, 1934, a fitting opening date for a Hamptons Restaurant!  With a new Chef, new menu and new décor they are on the cusp of an outrageous season. They are looking to set sail for the season around June 15th, stay tuned for up to the minute info on this project.

Muse Restaurant & Aquatic Lounge-Watermill, This has been coming for such a long time. Chef Matthew Guiffrida's Cuisine has been featured over the last 5 years at The Restaurant at The Inn at Quogue & The Patio Restaurant, The following Matthew has developed borders on obsessed. Matthews guests follow him to wherever he is located. Now finally that place is his own. Matthews food is big and intense, it is not for the shrinking violet. We are talking flavor and dynamic elements. Then there is his award winning personality to serve along side. And Ladies the man is single! The decor of the new restaurant is so hot it sizzles. And you all know how jaded I am on decor by now. Chef Matthew has created a space that is intimate and stunning to look at, rooms filled with texture and flickering candle light, the perfect backdrop for exciting cuisine. The Bar at MUSE is insane, you literally sit at a saltwater fish tank lit from within, and look below your cocktail at the wildlife in their own aquatic world. I mean come on? Check this location out, I am hearing that they are booking dinner reservation for guests 3 weeks in a row, so call get some info, and make it a point to check out this hot new spot for your next dinner or just for cocktails.

Sunday Brunch - Does it Exist?  The Hamptons

I am a devoted brunch goer, it comes in phases and depends on what my Sundays & the weather is at any given time of the year. But to be honest, if I have a Sunday to spend enjoying myself, or if I have out of town guests, Brunch is a must to wrap up the weekend…

For years now I have found that for Brunch, the drama of having Brunch in the Ballroom at Atlantica is hard to surpass… Whether is just a few of us going out tired from Saturday night and wanting to knosh and be spoiled and relax and hang for a few hours, or I have out of town guests in for the weekend and nee a real “WOW” finale before packing them off to go home, Tierra Mar-Atlantica seems to always deliver. Except the real dead of Winter when they go on vacation and leave me scrambling for somewhere to go and then I curse them from here to Bimini!                    [...read more...]

Hamptons Nightlife  Everywhere in the Hamptons

Well on some of this I am clear, on some of this I have to go out and experience the new and exciting offerings and then share my thoughts, so for the beginning of Season 2007 this is what we are looking at….

Late Night Action:

Nello Summertime’s, Main Street, Southampton Village, this is a very sexy lounge with a stunning garden, it was a great secret hide away last season, who knows what it will be this season I am anticipating the same program.

DUNE, North Sea Road, Southampton, where do I start with this one… The former Cain-Jet East location has been one of my absolute favorites since 1998. This is the info I have gathered so far. Noah Teppenberg & Jason Strauss are rumored to be throwing the party at this incredible location again for the 1st time since around 2003 ? During their time Jet East was a weekly must of glamorous nightlife. This was a time of Consience Point, and when Tavern was a place to go. After their departure, even I will have to admit Jet East took a dip, with Star Room really rocking and Tavern beginning its descent from Euro playground to a dressed up CPI. Then Jet East headed to a amazing reincarnation in Las Vegas, and CAIN stepped in. Well, you want to talk about a Summer. Last Summer, I was literally there a minimum of once a week and frequently twice and on a Holiday Weekend three times in a week. The Staff were as amazing as Jet Easts glory days, The Door people were sexy and exclusive. The entire thing was decadent and just sexy as hell… The Dancers, the Décor, it was a Summer to behold, so many memories and pics. One would think “concern” at it changing this year, well Cain was as great as Jet Easts glory days, and if the people who were responsible for the party back then are back at the wheel, then my favorite spot to party till 4 AM has not changed its address! I eagerly await checking this out!

Pink Elephant, Montauk Highway, Southampton, a sensational Summer last year and how could it not have been with the hot layout and décor of this venue. I will probably not be hitting this spot till after the Memorial Day Weekend crush, as it will just be too much. But will be heading over there right after this insane weekend. I am sure a story will result.

Q Restaurant & Lounge, Quogue Street, Quogue,  Well this is a favorite if there ever was one. What a first year it’s been partying at this spot. Sweet Lord! Some of the best cocktails I have had anywhere, the kind of mouth watering martinis, where they have been shaken till there are diamonds of ice across the top. I was a big fan of The Restaurant at The Inn, when I saw the transformation of this location and then became immersed in the lifestyle of hanging out here, I had to pinch myself that I was in even the same building. They treat you like absolute royalty. The garden last year sizzled with a who’s who, sipping cocktails and talking no stop. Like Nello’s the place is hidden and you would never imagine the posh world going on inside. The décor of the lounge is so decadent it knocks you out. The Staff in particular the Bar Staff are top notch.

Mr. Kehlenbeck works the rooms of his restaurant like it is a European Country House Party. More often than not dancing breaks out at any of The Friday Lounge Parties, which I can never seem to leave till the wee hours of the morning, all this is in Quogue folks, believe it. Get down there and check this space out! The place for intimate cocktails and a Friday Night out….

Evening Cocktails:

Dockers Waterside, Dune Road, Quogue/Hampton Bays Border, On the water, with a newly revamped Marina and expansive outdoor deck. Anyone who knows me, knows hands down this is one of my favorite places in the world. That I live somewhere, with a place like this to party at almost 3 full Seasons out of the year, is part of the reason why I can go on. I am not joking, if you do not feel it, between the music, the staff, the view, the sunsets, the drinks, the bands, the dancing, then there is something wrong. Or maybe you just need to go there with me so you can experience it properly. Anyway drinks here with the view are always a great time, whether its busy or quiet, the bar is just a great time. Now a night when there is a band there, well now your being treated to some 1st class entertainment. Now if that entertainment is Paul Mahos on a Tuesday, Friday, or a Sunday then the night just got turned up quite a few notches. Tuesdays and Sundays with Paul Mahos are a non stop dancing, cocktails, action packed evening. There have been more than one occasion when I have been there with a large party on these nights and ordered dinner got up to dance after ordering and never seen my table again, dinner served and never eaten, as the party can get so hot there is simply no time to eat, a 6 pm arrival and a 11:30 departure. The beauty of this is with the early closing you can make it to work the following day in one piece! There is no way to really convey this special brand of party, you are simply going to have to come down and check it out…..

Margarita Grille, Main Street, Westhampton Beach, When in Westhampton Beach and your feeling like a Margarita, and I mean feeling like a decadent Margarita, then you have to hit The Margarita Grille, for awesome music, fun people, crazy staff, and just a blast then this is it. Before the beach after the beach this is just it. Going here and getting a Quava Marg and a appetizer or a Bleu Cheese Burger, and my evening is made. I am a big fan of the bar inside, where so many want to sit outside and people watch Main Street. I don’t know I enjoy the inside bar, the great music, the drinks. Check it out and enjoy!

For 2007 I need to go out and do some work for this section, and believe me I will have a great time doing it! Stay tuned… Some of my other drink spots are below:

Red Bar-Southampton
75 Main-Southampton
Bobby Van’s-Southampton
Indian Cove-Hampton Bays
Sen Lounge-Sag Harbor
East Hampton Point-East Hampton

May 21st Pre-Memorial Day

Well I guess Season is here and underway.  Other than trying to get my house ready for the Memorial Day Weekend with a deluge of guests and spontaneous entertaining, where have I been and what have I been doing?

Last week…

Thursday: I went to Trata in Watermill with Carole & Nicholas French, Ann Ciardullo and Nicole La Montagne. We did wine and appetizers at the Bar and had a really fantastic time (not the cheapest place in town, but the ambiance was really cool, food was great, and we all had a lot of laughs as usual). Nick had his portfolio with him, and I truly enjoyed getting to see all of his work…i.e. ”North American Hair Stylist of the Year”.  Trata is now doing a sensational outside bar and offering lunch, thank the Lord! We need more chic spots for lunch & a cocktail. For those of you trapped between Remsenberg and Shinnecock Hills,  you all know there is no where for lunch anywhere in that region from October 1st to May 1st. It’s a sin.

Friday: I made it to Q Restaurant at The Inn @ Quogue, There was a nice crowd there, and some dancing, Got there late, but had a few drinks and enjoyed the music. I always enjoy Friday there, and to be honest Fridays there got me through the Winter!

Sunday: Dockers Waterside. We ate dinner with friends at the bar. It was extremely crowded for a Sunday in pre season down on Dune Road, but many fun Dock-hosian spottings… The Countess Schmidt just back from Brazil looking like a "new woman", Denise Bornschein from Hamptons Magazine. We love Denise.  Sean Kehlenbeck from Q Restaurant. Tom McSherry from Remax Realty, and Crystal Smith from Blue #1 Boutique, W.H.B., and that’s only naming just a few. Some of us ate at the bar while others made the scene in the dining room and we all got to watch an amazing sunset, It was already the 4th one we got to see there for 2007 and it’s barely June. Food was fabulous and it was a great pre season evening.

The weekend before last: I spent at the 4 Night launch party for Muse Restaurant in Watermill. One night was Friends & Family, one night was a party given by Mark Zucchero & his fiancé Shannon Flahrety (of Flying Point Surf Shop Southampton and now Sag Harbor). Finally the Saturday of the weekend was a gorgeous party given by Ann Ciardullo. Now Ann is such a hostess, and her mix of guests and the music of The Mambo Loco Band all came together as pure class. Guests included, Michael Braverman, Carole & Nicholas French (who were dressed to the nines as usual), Carole debuted an amazing suite of jewels which were a gift from Nicholas's recent business trip to Japan, and we love jewels…Cathy Dransfield, Doreen Atkins, Nicholas Landry, Larry Hoffman, (of Dockers Dune Road), Nicole La Montagne, Marriane Flahrety-Villeroy & Boch, Geraldine French-Gucci, & Chef Guiffrida's amazing Mother: Deborah Guiffrida, His sister Shari Guiffrida of The Pinehurst Resort flew in from North Carolina to handle the Cuisine so that Chef Matthew could mingle with the assembled guests, Incidentally Shari is the youngest Executive Sous Chef in this 4 Star Resort's history. She actually has the position which was occupied previously by Chef Matthew himself.

The restaurant is an absolute jewel, Chef Matthew Guiffrida has put together an amazing experience for the dining or bar patron alike. I’ve had the pleasure of enjoying Matthew’s food at The Inn at Quogue, and at The Patio in Westhampton,  so I was already prepared for the food to be spectacular. But to see what he has put together in this very unique space just blew my mind. The Décor is exquisite. And you all know I am highly critical of décor. It has an energy and beauty to it that knocked the wind out of me. The entire bar is a salt water fish tank that you sit at while watching amazing aquatic wildlife move about their world. I mean come on? You have to see this. The dining rooms are intimate and the bathrooms are an experience all of their own as well. The energy in the room was tangible. Every night of the 4 day opening, the rooms positively sizzled. Muse is now open to the public so make a trip out there and experience it. If you do not put it high on your calendar of where to get yourself to ASAP, you are absolutely insane...

Needless to say, I have been out a lot lately. Housewarming cocktail parties, pre season launches at local businesses, and into Manhattan for Hamptons Magazine Parties. It has been a rollicking pre season. Memorial Day Weekend is finally here, the weather as usual is completely up in the air, and all we can do is pray. The white pants, all 6 pairs, are pressed and ready, hanging in the closet, and if yours have been out yet, you are a disgrace and part of the erosion of ideals & standards.

This week is a whirlwind already, tomorrow night I have a private cocktail party in the gardens at Q Restaurant in Quogue Village, Then Wednesday night I have The Q Restaurant 1 Year Anniversary & Season Launch Party. This event will rock as there is nothing like a really swank event in the rooms of Q Restaurant. All sorts of nooks, and the lush garden, So much space for a really great cocktail party, a lot of room to work the crowd and your outfit as you glide by the guests. If you want to join me at this event, email me ASAP, and join me at this 1st of The Memorial Day Week blow-outs!!!

My week and weekend is so far looking like…

Tuesday at Q Restaurant and then down to Dockers.

Wednesday Night all night at The Cocktail Party at Q Restaurant.

Thursday Night I am looking at something big, I have a birthday in my group to celebrate so I am thinking start out at Muse in Watermill at the bar, then maybe Bamboo East Hampton after? Jury still out on that.

Friday no idea yet and Saturday same story.

Sunday Dockers in the evening then to the old Resort in East Hampton now FLIRT, and then to DUNE in Southampton the old Cain.

Monday resting all day at home, then down to Dockers to close the Weekend with all of my houseguests and the rest of my group for cocktails and the band and dinner. My favorite close to every Holiday Weekend.

I am excited about Season officially starting, and all the buzz and excitement, and what we are going to be doing where and when and with whom! Heading back to party at some old haunts and keeping an eye out for some fresh new ones! I am sure you will all be there!

Wednesday, May 31, 2007 Post-Memorial Day (The Storm has passed!)

To look back at what I wrote as last week was bearing down on us all, and now to look back at how those 7 days played out, blows my mind. It was the best Memorial Day in at least 4 years, I feel like I saw and did it all, I know there was a lot that I missed but I can tell you I gave it my best shot…

Here we go, ya ready? Good, cause I’m  takin’ it to the bridge.

Well the Memorial Day holiday kicked off for me at a Private Cocktail Party for Nicole La Montagne's Birthday in the Gardens of Q Restaurant in Quogue. It was a very nice 3 hour event, with a preview of the delicious hors d’ oeuvres that Chef Tramontano would be featuring the following evening for the Q Season launch. Guests included Crystal Smith from Blue One Boutique in WHB, Sean Kehlenbeck the owner of Q Restaurant, Antonio Bottero from Annona WHB, and Linda Palermo.  It was a nice evening of mingling and warming up for the weekend, which little did I fully realize was starting right then and there.

Next was Wednesday and back to Q Restaurant in Quogue for the massive Season Launch Party- I swore I was making the 5:30 start but, that was a bust and we made it for 6:30. I was greeted on the front walk by the Owner of Q's Parents who were taking a quick break from the mayhem brewing inside. After pleasantries I entered and dear lord did it immediately begin, who was there? Well really who wasn't there? Debra Halpert Editor of Hamptons Magazine, Barbara Ramsey & Peggy Malerba WHB, Denise Bornschein Hamptons Magazine, Jane & Bryce Schearer of Stony Brook University, Ann Ciardullo of Bridgehampton,  Cathy Dransfield-East Hampton, Doreen Atkins-Sagaponack, The Monte Boys from Gurneys, Richard Ball from Prudential, Anthony Oliverio of Quogue, and so many more. I think back and I really can only grab the highlights which are as follows: Great Food which the whole crowd was talking about, the eclectic fantastic mix of the crowd, the unbelievable cosmopolitans, and the 450 people crammed into a real swinging cocktail party. For me, it was a massive kick-off to Memorial Day. Just think at that point there was still 5 more nights to go!!!

First of all, I am so excited that Sean has asked me to put my own spin on the fabulous events in the Hamptons!  As an out-and-about member of the social circle out here, I asked that he keep my identity a secret, as I don’t want to cause any fuss over my opinions that I share here.  With that being said, thank God that season is here!  The weather lately has fooled many, including myself, into thinking that it was going to be cold forever. The social scene seems to be underway already, with events popping up in inboxes everywhere!  Read on Macbeth!
